Kobori Tomoto (1864 ~ 1931)

Kobori Tomoto (小堀 鞆音) was a Japanese painter and lecturer at the Tokyo Art School (東京美術学校).
Initially specializing in Kanō (狩野), then Yamato-e (大和絵) and Tosa (土佐), he distinguished himself in the Nihonga (日本画) style and committed to historical research in Japan. He collaborated with Okakura Tenshin (岡倉天心) at the Japan Art Institute (日本美術院), eventually parting ways with him.
Among the honors he received was the Order of the Sacred Treasure. His influence extended to many artists of the Meiji and Taishō eras, leaving a significant legacy in art and Japanese cultural preservation.
